Starting a Business in China – Your Questions Answered

With so much interest in China’s booming economy we find ourselves working with many companies entering the local market. We thought we would share some of their questions (and answers) to help others look similar steps.

T. Where should I look for my business?

A. There is no simple answer to this, many foreign business investments that are found in or around major population centers such as Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and Shanghai.

Q. Is it easy to open a business in China?

A. Yes and No. The Chinese government has taken great strides to make life easier for foreign investors but it is not always a simple process and can vary widely between locations. Shenzhen Special Economic Zone (SEZ) is one of the easiest places to open a company, but labor costs are higher than in other regions may be greater than the advantages of it.

T. What is the best structure to use for business in China?

A. There are three main types of companies that are open to foreign investment in this country: Representative Office (RO), Wholly Foreign Owned Enterprise (WoFE), and Joint Venture (JV).

Q. Whether doing business in China is much more difficult than doing business in the West?

A. No, but different from doing business back home. The complexity of culture rather than culture-based transactional relationships often mean that it is much slower than you expect (or believe) and there is generally a lower skill base in place, so that training and development and quality monitoring should play a key part in your strategy for success

Extreme 2011 Shift In Business

There are many changes happening in the world. We can all see this. However, if you noticed how quickly things change? You especially should note the change in how business works. With the help of the internet, a lot has changed in what is used for typical business structure. Communications, outsourcing, advertising, supply and demand, costs, profits …. almost every aspect has jumped ship from a major change in how the business works now.

The company will definitely try to always move with the shift, at any time, at every level, because that’s where the popularity and profits will be. This is something I think everyone should be aware of, whether you are a business owner, or employee. More than that, an employee who must take a strong concern of this because the rapid changes that they seem more likely to have a negative impact because they are not always in the “know” about what goes on behind the scenes of a company.

How many times have we heard the news about the sudden outbreak of getting laid off thousands of employees of companies at once? Have you ever thought to consider that this might not have come as a surprise at all to the company CEO? Of course not, they are in the “know.” In fact, many such decisions are deliberately made because of the strategies used and implemented for, profit growth survival, or business. If a business owner to realize a systematic way to keep or gain their business, they will make the decisions necessary to do so.

The Internet itself is an anchor proved to consistently produce innovative methods that can be utilized by companies around the world in order to improve their business, eliminating the traditional obligations, improve their bottom line, and again, stay where the popularity and profitability of this.
